My friend is leasing his own server for the first time, and he has given me a reseller account. I would like to run a web host off of my reseller account, but the server does not have the latest version of CPanel, PHP, or MySQL, nor does it have Python installed.

I do not have admin access to the server, but my friend does. He told me that he would upgrade all of these things for me if I could find out how. So here I am!

my computer is windows xp and the server we are hosting on is linux

I need a good web host to start my website with. I plan to move to a better plan when I can afford it but for now I need a free one. I need:

-Linux operating system
-PHP
-MySQL (1 database with several tables, probably under 10mb in total)
-My own subdomain or something like host.com/mysite
-Not much disk space or bandwidth needed

So I have this Linux email server that I’m trying to connect with my godaddy.com address. I’m running Ubuntu command line on it and postfix etc. However I have no idea how you would put it on a web address. Is there anyone who has experience in this that would be willing to help me out?
